E-MRS Fall 2023
David and Mugove were at European Materials Research Society (E-MRS) 2023 meeting in Warsaw. Lots of interesting discussions on defect characterization, methodologies, and promising applications for Ga2O3.
Arrived at the University of Warsaw for the start of an exciting week the E-MRS fall meeting.

Later today I’ll be presenting out work on studying how light is absorbed Gallium Oxide at sub-bandgap energies pic.twitter.com/PnUxJm5MCi
Lots of exciting discussions yesterday at our poster on sub-bandgap absorption in Ga2O3 at the E-MRS meeting.

Later today I’ll be back at the poster session, demonstrating how we can use the broad, defect mediated absorption properties for water quality monitoring applications pic.twitter.com/XNZL4sSEjT
Great talk by Mugove at the @europeanmrs shining a light on the effect of dislocations on the luminescence spectra of alpha Ga2O3 pic.twitter.com/Kkm4u9xPlT

UWO Best Student Presentation
David wins best student presentation at the Ultra-Wide Bandgap Oxides workshop in Bristol, for his presentation on “Hydrogen-related 3.8 eV luminescence in alpha-Ga2O3”. Well done David!!!
Great day in Bristol today talking about all things Gallium Oxide at the Ultra Wide-bandgap oxides conference. Topped off by being awarded the prize for best student presentation 🥳 pic.twitter.com/ca5MrwcOnM

David’s first first
Today is a great day in the history of the group, David got his first first-author paper published (https://doi.org/10.1063/5.0135103). Well done David!
Delighted to share my first first-author paper 🥳

Here we use Temperature-dependent photoluminescence to reveal a 3.8 eV emission line in alpha phase Ga2O3 that exhibits a strong dependence with Hydrogen concentration and temperature.@PhysicsStrath https://t.co/WcaYZNas2K pic.twitter.com/YALwzG6y1r
UK Nitride Consortium (Bristol, Jan 2023)
Fabien was in Bristol 5-6 January 2023 for the UK Nitride Consortium, where he delivered the Foxon lecture (opening plenary talk). He presented the recent work from the GOOD group on investigation of the nanoscale properties of GaN and Ga2O3.
So excited to give the Foxon lecture today at UKNC in Bristol!

International Workshop on Gallium Oxide (Nagano, Oct 2022)
Fabien and David were attending the International Workshop on Gallium Oxide (IWGO) in Nagano, Japan.
Followed by some french dude with what appears to be an equally epic poster reviewing metal contacts in Ga2O3.
